Commanders Still Looking for More? Rasul Douglas Rumors Add to Washington’s Offseason Questions

Washington continues evaluating veteran talent as reports connect the Commanders to Rasul Douglas while questions remain about receiver depth, cornerback help and roster competition heading into camp.

The Washington Commanders may not be done making moves.

Recent reports suggest Washington has interest in veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas, adding another experienced name to a growing list of possible late offseason additions. The Commanders have already made several changes this offseason, but there are still areas on the roster that could use more depth and competition.

Douglas is an interesting option because of his versatility and experience. He has played both outside and inside corner throughout his career and brings physicality that could fit well in Daronte Jones’ defensive system. He also brings championship experience after winning a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles.

At this stage of his career, Douglas likely profiles as a short-term option on a one-year deal, but that could still provide value for a Washington team trying to strengthen its secondary while also helping younger players develop.

The Commanders also continue to face questions at wide receiver and cornerback depth overall.

That’s why names like Stefon Diggs and Trevon Diggs continue to generate conversation around the team.

Stefon Diggs would bring proven production with seven 1,000-yard seasons and multiple Pro Bowl appearances, but age and locker room concerns create obvious questions. Trevon Diggs brings familiarity with Dan Quinn’s defensive system and high upside if healthy, though injuries and consistency remain concerns.

Washington’s offseason has already been aggressive, but the organization appears focused on continuing to build competition across the roster instead of standing still.

The addition of Ryan Kessenich as Director of College Scouting also signals how seriously the organization is taking long-term roster building. His background in scouting, evaluation and player development could play an important role as Washington continues trying to reshape the roster around Jayden Daniels and the new leadership structure.

The Commanders may not need another blockbuster move, but they clearly remain open to improving the roster wherever possible.
