The Washington Commanders continue looking for more answers at wide receiver behind Terry McLaurin, and one under-the-radar name could quietly make some noise this offseason.
Wide receiver Nick Nash signed a reserve/future deal with Washington after spending time on the Falcons practice squad, and while he enters camp as a long shot to make the roster, his college production alone makes him a player worth paying attention to during OTAs and training camp.
Nash had a breakout season in 2024 with 104 receptions, 1,382 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns while becoming a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award. His ball skills immediately stand out on film. He competes well in contested catch situations, shows strong acceleration off the line and consistently plays bigger than his size with a solid catch radius.
Washington needs more production and depth at receiver outside of Terry McLaurin, so opportunities could be available for someone who flashes consistently during camp practices and preseason games.
There are still areas Nash must improve. He is not considered a true vertical speed threat, his route running still needs refinement and he will need to become a more complete player underneath and as a blocker if he wants to earn a role in the offense.
Still, every offseason there is usually one player who surprises people during camp. Nick Nash could be one of those names to watch closely.
