The Washington Commanders made another quiet but important roster move by re-signing veteran cornerback Antonio Hamilton Sr. ahead of offseason workouts and training camp.
Hamilton may not be a headline-grabbing addition, but he provides valuable depth at cornerback and special teams experience for a defense still trying to solidify its secondary heading into the season. Hamilton played over 100 snaps on defense last year while also contributing on special teams, giving Washington another veteran presence in the room.
The bigger question now becomes whether the Commanders are finished adding at cornerback.
With OTAs, training camp and preseason still ahead, Washington has time to evaluate its current group before deciding if another outside addition is necessary. The team has been connected to several veteran defensive backs throughout the offseason, and the competition at corner will continue to be one of the more important storylines to watch.
We also discuss the growing speculation surrounding Tyreek Hill after an article suggested Washington could be one of the better fits for the veteran wide receiver.
Hill could add elite speed and vertical explosiveness to the offense while giving Jayden Daniels another dangerous weapon alongside Terry McLaurin and the Commanders’ young receiving core.
However, any possible move would come with major questions.
Hill is coming off an ACL injury, and Washington would have to determine whether adding another star receiver aligns with the direction Adam Peters and the front office are building toward long term.
For now, it remains speculation, but it is another reminder that Washington continues to be viewed as a destination team around the league.
